The Hollie Gazzard Trust is encouraging people across Gloucestershire to wear purple for the day this July 2025, to raise awareness and funds for the charity — and to remember its namesake during the month she was born.
Purple HollieDay takes place on Friday 4 July 2025 to honour the life of Gloucester hairdresser Hollie Gazzard, who was murdered by her abusive former partner at the salon where she worked.
Hollie was just 20 years old when she lost her life, but the legacy she leaves behind thanks to her namesake charity is incredible — and purple was her favourite colour.
The charity says Purple HollieDay is 'more than a tribute, it’s a chance to unite in support of positive change, ensuring that young people learn how to recognise the signs of unhealthy relationships and know how to seek support. By taking part, you’re not just remembering Hollie, you’re helping us deliver life-saving education and preventative programmes to schools, colleges and communities.'
Businesses, schools, community groups and individuals are all encouraged to #GoPurple and raise money to help the charity continue its important work of educating young people on healthy relationships and preventing future abuse.
From wearing purple for the day, baking purple cakes, decorating shop windows in purple, hosting a purple-themed raffle or even dying your hair purple, there are plenty of ways to get involved. And if purple just isn't your colour, donations are gratefully received, too!
Every pound raised goes towards providing workshops and resources that promote healthy relationships for young people.
