Hartpury's director of agriculture, professor Matt Bell, explores the impact of big data on farming in the university's free Christmas lecture this December 2023.

The world-renowned Hartpury University is giving members of the public the rare opportunity to attend one of its lectures once again this December 2023.

After launching its free Christmas lecture in 2022, the event is back for another year on Wednesday 6 December 2023, when Hartpury's director of agriculture, professor Matt Bell, hosts an insightful session on big data and technology in farming.

The free festive lecture offers an informal, community-friendly look at a topical area within one of the university's specialist industries, accompanied by mulled wine and mince pies.

This year, Bell — who is an expert in agricultural systems and sustainable food production — explores how to produce new solutions to the food needs of the world, covering innovative approaches to enhance farm systems and how technology can improve farm-level decision making.
