After closing down in March 2018, the owner of Cheltenham Bierkeller has announced that the Bavarian bar will relaunch in its original location on Bath Road on Friday 14 September 2018.
The venue, which re-opened as Moody’s Place in April 2018, sold a range of American-style burgers and cocktails. But following ‘widespread sadness’ when the Bierkeller closed its doors, management confirmed to SoGlos that a new and improved Bierkeller would be replacing Moody’s Place when it relaunches on Friday 14 September 2018. A spokesperson for the Bierkeller told SoGlos that staff from Moody’s Place will also be offered interviews for alternative roles at Cheltenham Bierkeller.
Jimmy Eilas, operations director at Cheltenham Beirkeller, said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled to be able to confirm the return of our beloved Bierkeller in Cheltenham. We were reluctant to close the business in March but for various commercial reasons our hands were tied.
‘Our decision to bring a new and improved Bierkeller party bar to Cheltenham stemmed from the genuine and widespread sadness that the closure caused. I’ve been running bars and nightclubs for over 20 years and never have I experienced a reaction like it!’
While management confirmed that a number of elements would be ‘tweaked’ such as the layout, other popular aspects of the bar will remain, including the Tuesday night Quiz Night with Quizmaster Gaz and DJ Nick; Friday and Saturday party nights, with sing-along anthems; and a large selection of beers, lagers, ciders and the Bierkeller’s infamous cocktails.
