Dominating Europe and now set to disrupt the UK sports industry, celebrate the opening of The Padel Club's soon-to-be flagship venue this October 2024 when it brings its energy-filled social game to Gloucester, with one lucky SoGlos reader bagging a wicked prize of £500 credit — which can be used towards an intro session, 121 coaching, group sessions and rackets.
Padel is a hybrid of squash and tennis, played in doubles on a smaller court that also utilises the walls.
The game begins by an underarm serve, diagonally into the opposite corner on the oppositions side. When the player takes a serve, the ball must bounce once on the floor then hit from below, or at, waist height.
The aim is to score more points than the opposing team. Points are won if: the ball bounces twice; if the ball strikes any player; or the ball hits the wall or fixture before going over the net, or into the opponents’ half of the court.
The courts' compact size makes the game impactful, competitive and exciting, whilst also remaining inclusive for people of all abilities.
And with venues in Cheshire and Greater Manchester, the Gloucester venue will be the first south west hub, with The Padel Club looking to expand the popularity of the sport with its distinctive, award-winning and highly social padel experience.
