Cyber experts CDS Defence and Security has completed its first takeover, the purchase of specialist Worcestershire-based telecommunications training firm Ubi-Tech (3R).
A statement announcing the deal between the Cheltenham business and Redditch-based Ubi-Tech also hints this may not be the last such deal to be done by the cyber security experts.
According to CDS DS, the acquisition adds yet another service to its ‘roster of capabilities’, which now include support engineering, training and learning development, operational support and cyber security and information assurance services.
Richard Bradley, managing director of CDS DS, part of the Leeds based Bailie Group, said: ‘As part of our ambitious growth strategy we’re delighted to be able to add Ubi-Tech and their complementary capabilities to our existing services.
‘CDS DS and Ubi-Tech have worked closely together for a number of years, delivering significant, high-profile programmes of work – most recently for the British Army.
‘During this time, the synergies between our work in training analysis and design, and theirs in training delivery became increasingly clear.’
Established in 2012, Ubi-Tech was formed by members of the British Armed Forces, initially to provide resettlement training for service leavers wishing to pursue a second career in the telecommunications industry.
Today, it is described as ‘a specialist telecommunications training organisation, providing consultancy and bespoke training for leading providers within the industry’.
Ubi-Tech (3R) Ltd will remains a separate legal entity to CDS DS. The statement said it was ‘business as usual’ for both companies.
