Strip, a new steak bar and grill, has opened its doors at the fast-growing food hall in the centre of Stroud’s Five Valleys shopping centre.
The new 40-seater restaurant is run by Ross Sanders, who has more than 20 years’ experience as a chief executive and food operator, with food cooked by head chef Arthur Knights, who trained at Gordon Ramsay’s Culinary School.
According to the team, the ethos behind the restaurant is ‘tasty, simple, rapid and inexpensive food done well’, with a ‘concise menu’ including locally sourced 30-day-aged Black Angus steak, chips and side dishes. Drinks include IPAs, beers and Hard Seltzers.
Sanders said: ‘The Five Valleys Market is the perfect location to bring our new business model to, it has become the food hub of the area boasting cuisines from across the globe.
‘We plan to host a diary of exciting events which we are really looking forward to announcing in the coming weeks.’
The new restaurant joins other food hall eateries including Thai 2 Go, Armadeli, La Cantina and Kyuri Sushi.
Jess Derham, Five Valleys’ events manager, said: ‘Five Valleys Market is now fully occupied. House of Piri is about to expand into a second adjoining unit, while Thai2Go have just refitted their unit to keep up with their business growth and success.
‘We also hold a waiting list of traders who would like to rent space from us at Five Valleys. Footfall at Five Valleys is now surpassing pre-covid levels and continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the loyalty of our customers and dedication of our traders.’
Five Valleys is owned by Sheffield-based Dransfield Properties, which bought the former Merrywalks Shopping Centre in June 2018, announcing £12 million investment.
Gloucestershire local enterprise partnership GFirst LEP provided a £1 million loan and a £3 million grant.
