JD Sports is launching a new store at Regent Arcade, transforming the retail space which was once home to Cheltenham’s Top Shop.
A lease has been granted for the fashion-conscious sportswear chain to take over into the 11,000 square foot store at the town’s shopping centre, a move expected to be completed before Christmas.
It is another coup for Regent Arcade, which has also just unveiled its new five-screen, 23,000 square foot, boutique TIVOLI Cinema Cheltenham.
Keith Willoughby, centre operations manager at Regent Arcade, which is looked after by Canada Life Asset Management, said: ‘It is more good news. We are delighted to welcome the arrival of another new sports store.’
James Air, senior group acquisitions manager at JD Sports Fashion plc, said: ‘We are pleased to be opening a new JD store within the heart of Cheltenham town centre.
‘The new store will benefit from our latest high level store environment, providing a full range of brands from within the JD stable, including several exclusives.’
September 2021 saw JD Sports report a record first-half profits of £439.5 million, something it put down to increased spending online and pent-up demand that saw a return of high street customers post lockdown.
