The historic Ingleside House in Cirencester has been transformed into a boutique hotel, with 11 stylish bedrooms now inside the Grade II-listed building.

And according to those behind the new enterprise, over £500,000 has been spent on transforming the former offices into a luxurious hotel that befits the Tetro Italian restaurant in its basement.

Opening Ingleside Hotel has also created 10 jobs and forged a cluster of businesses for its owners, who also have interests in both the restaurant and adjacent 200-seater Barn Theatre.

Husband and wife Ian and Chrissie Carling are behind the new enterprise.

‘We wanted to bring something different to the region and the town,’ said Mr Carling.

‘There are lots of hotels and accommodation around the Cotswolds but this one comes with theatre on its doorstep, and hopefully no drama within.

‘Recent events meant that Ingleside House was no longer required as office space with so many now working from home.

‘It has always been in the back of our minds to convert it, the building is so special and we have taken much care to make each room have its own unique story to tell.’

Over its 300-year existence, Ingleside House has been a private residence, offices for the WWII effort, a community centre and private school.
