Berkeley Castle is a medieval fortress that makes for a fantastic family day out, welcoming visitors from spring to autumn every year.

With a remarkable history, stunning grounds and plenty of children’s activities, Berkeley Castle near Stroud offers a fantastic day out for all ages.

Dating back to the 11th century, the castle and its grounds are open to visitors on selected days from Sunday 2 April to Sunday 5 November 2023.

Visitors can take a stroll through the tranquil gardens, explore the ancient keep or even brave a trip to the dungeon where King Edward II was imprisoned, with a host of fascinating British history on display. While there’s also the option to take a guided tour of the impressive fortress for £2.50 per person.

With a timetable jam-packed with exciting events throughout the year, from jousting and archery to meeting Tudor royalty, Berkeley Castle also promises seasonal fun for all the family!
