Gloucester Guildhall is situated in the city centre and plays home to a modern art gallery hosting regular exhibitions from both local and visiting artists.

Works are hung on fresh white walls and illuminated by simple spotlights, giving visitors the chance to enjoy each piece in its own right, while further exhibitions can also be found in Gloucester Guildhall’s concourse.

The main gallery is open from 10am to 4pm on Mondays and from 10am to 9pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays, unless otherwise stated, and entry is free.

Art, craft and writing classes and workshops are also regularly organised for budding artists of all abilities, including life drawing and painting.

Gloucester Guildhall's gigs are unmatched locally with some great bands playing on a regular basis. I like the art house selection of films, and the art exhibitions aren't bad either. The only downside is having to catch the bus to get there! 4 March 2008
