About us

Your definitive guide

SoGlos.com is Gloucestershire's most comprehensive lifestyle and entertainment online magazine, covering every inch of the county's 1,025 square miles. We provide the very best selection of independent reviews and engaging editorial features, as well as more than 3,000 carefully-selected listings - all free, available 24/7 and updated each and every day.

Whatever you choose to do in your free time - from dining on local produce at an award-winning gastropub and enjoying a romantic break at a cosy B&B, to taking the plunge with scuba diving lessons and hitting the dancefloor at the hottest nightclub in town - there's something for everyone on SoGlos.com.

Reader interaction is an integral part of the online magazine. Whether you are a Gloucestershire resident or visitor, there are a number of ways to get your voice heard. This could be by reviewing a local restaurant, county pub, or Gloucestershire hotel, or by adding a comment to any one of the thousands of listings available across all sections. Our popular forums also provide a unique chance for a lively discussion on diverse topics around the clock.

Growing every day

Targeting the entire Gloucestershire population of more than 600,000, as well as the 1.7 million UK residents and 240,000 overseas residents who flock to the county every year, SoGlos.com has received a wealth of support since going live in May 2007.

Taking pride in being an independent, authoritative and entertaining online magazine, SoGlos.com is fast becoming Gloucestershire's most popular website, with visitor numbers growing every single day.

The inspiration

We hope you will agree that Gloucestershire is a lively and vibrant county to live in or visit, yet until the launch of SoGlos.com, no publication or website came close to representing the diverse range of lifestyle and entertainment opportunities on offer.

Having spent years forging successful careers as journalists in some of the world's most exciting cities - including London and Dubai - Gloucestershire-born Michelle Byrne and James Fryer utilised their passion for their home county to launch SoGlos.com. Their mission was simple: to represent Gloucestershire in its true glory, whilst becoming an indispensable guide to both residents and visitors alike.

Behind the scenes

Cheltenham-based web design company Esense Ltd worked tirelessly on the design and development of SoGlos.com, taking advantage of the latest technological advances to provide an accessible and attractive resource for our tens of thousands of readers. Through a combination of Esense Ltd's technical skills and the media experience of co-founders Michelle Byrne and James Fryer, SoGlos.com has cemented its position as a truly innovative and unique online magazine.
