Beating Conwy in Wales, Stratford-upon-Avon, Newquay and Worcester, the city of Gloucester has been revealed as the top hidden gem for a Christmas getaway in a study conducted by online Christmas tree store, Christmas Tree World.
Destinations included in the research were graded in categories including annual online searches; number of Instagram posts featuring each destination; and an overall Christmas getaway score, to name a few.
Gloucester came out on top with 13,340 annual searches for festive breaks and also featured in 840,000 Instagram posts — showcasing the incredible visual appeal of the historical city.
The city is popular for festive activities such as ice skating at the outdoor rink at Gloucester Quays and browsing the annual Winter Markets that showcase amazing wares from local artisan makers.
And of course, a visit to the city over the festive period wouldn't be complete without a visit to the unforgettable Gloucester Cathedral, when the iconic building lights up at night throughout December.
Tewkesbury also made it on to the list at number six, beating all the other destinations with the highest number of views on TikTok — 686.4 million!
