Popular Cotswolds hotel The Painswick has snapped up a neighbouring cottage, adding three new bedrooms and a home-from-home space to its offering.

The newly refurbished cottage in Painswick, which is dog and child friendly, is a little like a holiday cottage but with the benefit it can be used as a hotel with bedrooms and the kitchen cleaned and serviced daily.

Sitting alongside the late 18th century hotel bought by The Calcot Collection in 2016, the new extension of the hotel has a log burner and cosy cottage atmosphere with thoughtful little touches like a bedside copy of the the novel Cider with Rosie from late local author Laurie Lee.

With a twin bedroom for children or adults and two king size beds, one with a roll top bath, it exudes quiet Cotswolds luxury.

Outside, the peaceful private cottage garden has seating and valley views.

Hotel manager Leah Warren said: 'It's incredibly important to adapt to what the customer wants. We can now cater for people we couldn't cater for before.

'Especially for things like weddings, this new cottage lets us bring people together in once space.

'We like to try new things at the hotel, that's how The Calcot Collection survives even in more challenging climates; it's because we never stand still.'

The characterful cottage sits separately from the hotel, on adjacent land, and is surrounded by village views.

Built from classic Cotswold stone, the cottage has a relaxed lounge space, with pastel coloured sofas surrounding a woodburner.

The dining room is equipped with a large farmhouse-style table and the bijou kitchen with a cooker, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave overlooks rolling hills.

The cottage can be booked for a minimum two-night stay from £549 per night.
