Gloucester Rugby is continuing its push for sustainability by going carbon neutral with a new reusable cup system.
It is introducing the reusable cup scheme at Kingsholm Stadium for the 2021-22 season, with support from Freemans Event Partners and One Planet One Chance.
Event Cup Solutions, who launched the One Planet One Chance reusable cup system which offsets the carbon emissions from transporting and washing cups via a UK tree planting project, will deliver the scheme at Gloucester Rugby.
The club is one of the first in the rugby world to make sustainability a priority, becoming a member of BASIS, the British Association for Sustainable Sport. The organisation sets targets and implements processes to improve environmental performance as a club and in the community, too.
Gloucester Rugby’s recently appointed director of sustainability, Richard Weller, said: ‘Sustainability is a key focus for us as a club. We are proud to be the first Premiership Rugby Club to achieve a carbon neutral status in respect of our reusable cups.
When the opportunity was presented to us by Freemans Event Partners and Event Cup Solutions it felt like the perfect fit in our bid to become more sustainable.’
