750 children a day attend Atlas Camps during the school holidays in Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud and the Cotswolds – with its new Tewkesbury venue opening this summer.

Popular children’s camp provider, Atlas Camps, is opening its 23rd venue this summer 2022.

Atlas Camps started in 2012 with two friends organising a kids’ club for four youngsters in Cheltenham. Since then, it has grown into Gloucestershire’s largest children’s camp provider.

A team of more than 100 childcare specialists now host camps in Cheltenham, Stroud, Gloucester, the Cotswolds and, soon, Tewkesbury too.

The brainchild of former PE teachers James Harber and Dan Tanner, the pair realised there was a gap in the market for children’s clubs that run a variety of activities for the youngsters to choose from.

Embracing crafts, outdoor pursuits, acting and dancing as well as traditional sports, the 750 children who attend camps across Gloucestershire can choose how they spend their time.

It’s a formula that’s proved so successful that demand for the camps, for children aged between three to 14, has never been higher.

Tanner said: ‘We set up Atlas Camps to give all types of children all types of choice when it came to their school holiday fun, and that’s exactly what we’ve achieved.’

Harber added: ‘Celebrating our 10th anniversary means an incredible amount. We have to thank children up and down the county for making Atlas the most incredible place to be every school holiday. They are, and always will be, at the very heart of what we do.’
