Promising tribute bands, loads of entertainment for children, street food and a traditional fun fair, Picnic in the park is the latest addition to the Cheltenham festival calendar.

Spanning the weekend of Saturday 1 September to Sunday 2 September 2018, the festival will take over the whole of Pittville Park between 11am and 8pm. The ticketed event will be headlined by Fleetwood Mac tribute, Fleetwood Bac, with appearances from folk band Noble Jacks and Thunderbridge Bluegrass Band with more acts to be announced in March.

For the kids there’s a traditional fun fair, music and games from the locally famed Music Man. And foodies will be in their element too, thanks to an array of artisan stalls, street food and tasters.

The Festival plans

The festival, which is to be organised by Garden Events, the same firm which is behind the Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival, has already been subject to some controversy. People living near to Pittville Park lodged their concerns with Cheltenham Borough Council’s licensing team. With worried residents taking issue with plans to close the public park for the event preparation, noise levels during the festival, a lack of parking, and plans to charge an entrance fee.

Tickets will cost £6 in advance and £7 on the gate for adults, under 14s will be free of charge.
