It's the start of an exciting new chapter for Cheltenham's The Tavern pub and restaurant as it launches with a new owner at the helm, this January 2025.

The Tavern marks the first foray into hospitality by businessman Linden Holliday who comes from a background of management consultancy following 10 years in the Royal Navy.

The family man who lives in Montpellier and has two grown up children, is keen to breathe fresh life into the pub with ambitions to make it feel like home for Cheltenham locals.

He's stocked up on board games — one of his passions — and has a keen interest in the food and drink, but otherwise he's letting his new team take the lead.

Linden, who has travelled around the world over the course of his successful career, fell in love with hospitality and has a real passion for making The Tavern a great success.

There's a new Chef's Table menu featuring deep fried olives, anchovies on toast, spam fritters, fried hake tacos, buffalo wings and French dip sandwiches among other tasty morsels.

While the traditional menu includes burgers, chicken, fish dishes and sandwiches. There are steaks on offer too, alongside small plates and bar snacks.

The aesthetics of The Tavern remain similar to its roots with the upstairs restaurant having undergone the biggest refurbishment with cosy red leather booth style seating, candles, games and an open kitchen to keep an eye on all of the action.

With a dark, urban and slightly sultry, fun vibe, the new independent chapter for The Tavern is off to a stylish start.
