Daikoku Ramen opens at Gloucester Food Dock this October 2024, bringing authentic flavours from Japan to Gloucester.

An exciting new addition to Gloucester Food Dock, Daikoku Ramen is the first Asian restaurant to join the city's bustling community of independent food and drink businesses — and it's officially opening on Friday 4 October 2024.

It's the second Daikoku restaurant for husband-and-wife team, Hugo and Mixuki Lonsdale, building on the success of their popular noodle bar in Stroud.

With a focus on authenticity, Daikoku offers a Japanese tasting experience punctuated by vibrant flavours to Gloucester Food Dock, with a menu of ramen bowls, gyoza and rice bowls made with ingredients sourced locally and from Japan itself.

Taught how to make ramen by her father, a professor of handmade noodles in Japan, Mixuki's authentic ramen dishes are made in the traditional, Japanese way — with a selection of vegan and gluten-free ramens on the menu, too.

Ken Elliott, co-founder of Gloucester Food Dock, said: 'Daikoku will be the first of our Asian concepts to open and, as with the other offers at the Food Dock, in Mixuki and Hugo we’ve found individuals who are passionate about their food; they produce authentic ramen made traditionally and customers will really notice the difference.'

Daikoku Ramen is the tenth business to join Gloucester Food Dock, offering both dine-in and takeaway options.
