With talks from some of the world’s most prominent figures, from Bill Gates to Brené Brown, TED is known for being informative, thought-provoking, challenging and often heart-warming – and Cheltenham is set to play host to its very own series of TED talks this May 2022.
TEDxCheltenham takes place at the Parabola Arts Centre on Friday 13 May 2022, with some of the county’s most inspirational people taking to the stage to speak.
Attendees can see a variety of talks from thought leaders in Gloucestershire, including two of SoGlos’s 50 inspirational women in Gloucestershire – Cheltenham Ladies’ College principal, Eve Jardine-Young and University of Gloucestershire professor, Dr Jane Monckton-Smith.
They’re joined by Dr Simon Fryer – a senior lecturer in exercise physiology at the University of Gloucestershire; Renishaw’s head of sustainability, Ben Goodare; and founder of Green Fuels, James Hygate.
The event is being independently organised by Melania Edwards, founder of TEDxCheltenham, with support from partners Harrison Clark Rickerbys; Squashed Robot; Unit One Films; and Highliner Technology.
Edwards said: ‘I’ve always been a big fan of TED talks. The insight, inspiration and ideas you can learn from the wide array of talks is incredible.
‘Cheltenham and its surrounding areas host a wealth of inspirational individuals and stories, and the mission of TEDxCheltenham is to elevate these local voices.’
Kristine Scott, head of Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ Cheltenham office, added: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting TEDxCheltenham to bring a range of inspiring speakers and innovative thinking to the town.
‘TED talks offer new perspectives and approaches and, as a massive fan of TED, I hope this will be the first of many such events which will share insights and address topical issues.’
Tickets for TEDxCheltenham cost £25 each and include a glass of bubbly at the networking reception before the talks begin.
