Cheltenham Science Festival @ Home takes place from Tuesday 2 to Saturday 7 June 2020, bringing six days of science to your home via YouTube, curated by AIDA, the world’s first artificial intelligence festival curator.

The virtual event will run from 10am to 8pm each day, with a mixture of live speaker sessions, participatory workshops and pre-recorded events all streamed on the Cheltenham Festivals YouTube channel, which you can visit at youtube.com/cheltenhamfestivals.

Join Professor Brian Cox, Jeff Forshaw, Brian Greene from the World Science Festival, astronomer royal Martin Rees and Jim Al-Khalili for a live talk about the cosmos on Tuesday 2 June 2020 at 7pm.

Watch the hottest new names in science battle to represent the UK in the world’s most prestigious science communication competition FameLab.

Discover things you never knew about your body and brain, including how your genes can influence your diet, the science behind language, why we love our possessions and our relationships with our dogs.

Enjoy fun family shows from space scientist Maggie Aderin-Pocock, scientist Dr Jamie Gallagher, mathematician Katie Steckles.

Learn how to use science to make the perfect cocktail with scientific bartenders Mark Miodownik and Andrea Sella, or see how far you can get in the UniverSilly Challenged nerdy pub quiz.

Explore the Virtual Discover Zone where viewers can take part in a computer game design challenge from the University of Gloucester, test their codebreaking skills with GCHQ and take virtual tour of a nuclear power plant with EDF.

There will also be small group workshops that will be run on Zoom, including Sketching Skulls, Mental Health Mates and Lego Lates. Workshops must be booked in advance and places are limited.

Head of Programming Marieke Navin said: ‘We have put together the next best thing to our amazing tented village in the heart of Cheltenham – six days of exciting free events for everyone to enjoy at home and for 30 days after the Festival ends. It’s been wonderful to have the support of so many speakers as we’ve found new ways to present events and expand our digital and worldwide audiences.’
