Tewkesbury Half Marathon 2008

11 May – Lace up your running shoes and hit the streets of Tewkesbury, for what promises to be popular Tewkesbury Half Marathon and 5-Mile Fun Run this May.

While last year the Tewkesbury Half Marathon turned out to be one of the wettest days of the year, fingers are being firmly crossed for a spot of sunshine on Sunday 11 May – when around 1,500 runners are again expected to hit the town’s tarmac for this year’s event.

Organised by 2:09 Events, the 13.1-mile Tewkesbury Half Marathon is a popular, traditional half-marathon run from the picturesque town. The first few miles of the route are suburban and light industrial areas moving to towards the M5, followed by pleasant countryside and pretty villages before returning through the historic high street.

Runners competing can expect frequent water stations, distance markers every mile, changing facilities and on-site parking – as well as medals, winners’ prizes and goody bags.

Supporting the main event, a 5-mile fun run will also take place on the day – in conjunction with local schools and suitable for runners who might enjoy a less gruelling challenge.

Both events are open to members of the public, and to both men and women. See below for details of entry fees – with donations being made to the Mayor of Tewkesbury’s charities and a number of other good causes.
