La Vie en Bleu at Prescott Speed Hill Climb
25 May – You’ve seen it on BBC’s Top Gear, now marvel at not one but two Bugatti Veyrons when the mean machines take to Prescott this May for the La Vie en Bleu event.
For two days this May Prescott Hillclimb near Cheltenham will be going all continental, with a celebration of the very finest vintage and classic French cars. But the star of the show will undoubtedly be the breathtaking Bugatti Veyron, with not one but two of the legendary supercars in attendance – expected to pull in petrol heads from across Gloucestershire and far beyond.
Brought to fame thanks to multiple appearances on BBC’s Top Gear show, the Bugatti Veyron is the fastest, most lavish and expensive road car the world has ever seen – boasting a phenomenal 978bp with 10 radiators used to cool the uncovered engine, and an unbelievable top speed of 252mph.
Jeremy Clarkson said: ‘It is a triumph for lunacy over common sense, a triumph for man over nature and a triumph for Volkswagen over absolutely every other car maker in the world’, and spectators at the special weekend event won’t just be able to catch a glimpse of the Veyron, but they’ll also be able to see it in action when ex-F1 driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel puts it to the test on the Prescott track.
The La Vie en Bleu event will also see a celebration of the French automobile when, on Saturday 24 May 2008, an invasion of racing cars ‘Anglais’ compete on the hill and a parade of rare classic cars are put on parade.
Sunday 25 May 2008 will include a series of timed racing for French cars, in addition to demonstration runs, cavalcades and a central display showcasing 100 years of the finest French motor cars. Visitors will also be invited to the ‘French Quarter’, complete with a range of displays, 30 car clubs, an autojumble, trade stands and even a French market with regional wines on offer.
Whether you’re at home behind the wheel or enjoy watching the world go by from the safety of the passenger seat, this high-octane event complete with plenty of French flair is an absolute must.
