Please note, the Live in the Park Music Festival has sadly been cancelled.

Green and leafy Gloucester Park will play home to a day-long festival of live music this summer, when the Live in the Park Music Festival kicks off on Saturday 28 June 2008, complete with two stages of diverse sounds.

Headlining Gloucester’s very first Live in the Park Music Festival will be iconic ska band The Beat, which was first formed in 1978. Music lovers at Gloucester Park can expect to hear hits ‘Can’t Get Used to Losing You’, ‘Mirror in the Bathroom’, and ‘Hands Off…She’s Mine’ performed with verve by the veteran band.

Gloucestershire bands supporting The Beat on the day will be Tewkesbury’s own [Spunge] and Cheltenham favourites 4ft Fingers – names which are likely to pull in a huge crowd of local supporters alone – as well as 13 other eclectic acts, including: The Talks, Star of 59, Estevez, Sixty, The Colour Sound Experiment, Hellbound, Majoracle, Stillbust, Modesty and Caught in the Crossfire.

Organisers, Live Sound Promotion, promise that musical tastes including folk, heavy metal, ska, punk, rock, funk and indie will all be catered for at Live in the Park, and even Elvis is set to make an appearance – well, tribute act Las Vegas Elvis that is.

Children under the age of 12 can enter the family-friendly festival free of charge when accompanied by a paying adult and there will be bouncy castles and face painting for the kids, as well as bars for the grown-ups.

While live music-lovers won’t need any more persuading, all profits from the Live in the Park Music Festival will go to Cancer Research UK.
