Would be nice if you could have a trip on a small boat instead of having to paddle. Will give 10 stars if they introduce that!

HoMedics Atom Massager review

Product of the week – While the HoMedics Atom Massager initially caused sniggers of laughter, it wasn’t long before we were all fighting for our turn with the nifty little gadget.

They might look like 'Batteries Not Included' aliens, but batteries are indeed included with the HoMedics Atom Massagers.
They might look like 'Batteries Not Included' aliens, but batteries are indeed included with the HoMedics Atom Massagers.

The SoGlos.com office is brimming with self-confessed Sex and the City addicts and as such there was many a snigger to be had at the arrival of the hand-held HoMedics Atom Massager. The connotations of an intimate nature, shall we say, failed to go unnoticed. But before long the snorts subsided and many a slumped shoulder was volunteering for a bit of pampering.

Resplendent in a metallic pink finish – red, blue and green is also available, if you are concerned about coordinating colours – and looking a bit like the tiny daughter of R2D2 according to one onlooker, the ergonomic atom-shaped massager is designed to fit in the palm of your hand, while a trio of brightly-lit feet vibrate.

Eager to see if the manufacturers’ claims that its ‘the perfect treat to help wave goodbye to stress, aches and pains,’ deadlines were forgotten, meetings were cancelled and breath was collectively held as the batteries were inserted.

The quiet buzzing broke the silence and before more giggles ensued a list of ailments that would make a hypochondriac blush were blurted out in a bid to be the first guinea pig. Shoulder tension, a pulled back muscle, and migraine did battle – with shoulder tension winning first dibs at a sample of the HoMedics Atom Massager’s positively-charged power.

Ooohs and aaahs indicated a pleasurable experience from the off, the next sampler was in danger of snoring after a five minute back rub, while Miss Migraine enjoyed her gentle massage so much that she made the first move in a bitter custody battle that still threatens to split the once harmonious office.

At £9.99 – including batteries – however, the little gadget is cheap and cheerful enough for everyone to buy their own. In fact, it was the only the patient massager who didn’t get to feel the relaxing effects of the gadget – disproving the claim that it’s better to give than receive.

The HoMedics Atom Massager is priced at £9.99 and is available to order online here from Boots.com.
