Bulldog Post Shave Balm review
Product of the week - With hundreds of male grooming products on the market we asked is Bulldog’s new natural range all bark and no bite?
While us chaps once had to make do with a paltry offering of male-specific grooming products, the choice on offer nowadays is more than a little overwhelming. But if there’s one decision that should be a given for all members of the not so fair sex, it’s opting for natural products over those jam packed with everything scientists can cram into one little bottle.
Launched exclusively just a few weeks ago in Sainsbury’s supermarkets across the UK, including throughout Gloucestershire, UK company Bulldog’s new range of natural, body-friendly and affordable products aim to provide men with a new, natural and pioneering alternative to the chemically-over laden grooming sector.
Packaged with strong but simple branding, Bulldog clearly knows its market – aiming to take a place in those bathrooms across the UK which belong to men who care about their skin, but aren’t interested in fussy lotions and potions.
The SoGlos.com boys were more than pleasantly surprised with a first whiff of the range’s post shave balm – fresh and silky with an almost aromatherapy quality thanks to its addition of rose hip oil, as well as eight essential oils. Dabbed on the skin post-shave and its instantly-cooling effects were a welcome refreshment, whilst most importantly avoiding the sometimes greasy and often stingy quality of many shaving balms.
If you have sensitive skin you’ll know that the real test comes 15 to 30 minutes later, when irritation and itching are all too common, but we’re pleased to report that our skin looked and felt smooth to the touch.
So, for this chap at least, the avoidance of ingredients including parabens, sodium laureth sulphate, artificial ingredients and horrible synthetic fragrances seems to have done the job with aplomb – and at least one of Bulldog’s new range of products will be kept in the bathroom cabinet for some time to come.
Bulldog’s post shave balm is priced at an affordable £4.99, with the complete range including shave gel, shampoo, face wash and moisturiser – all available at Sainsbury’s supermarkets throughout Gloucestershire.
