L’eau d’Issey Summer review

Product of the week – A light and refreshing new green edition of the best-selling scent is sure to make your friends jealous this summer.

Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake’s self-named scent L’eau d’Issey has been a bestseller on perfume counters for years. This year, a fresh new summer edition adds a seasonal variety to the favourite fragrance – with light, clean and refreshing tones perfect for the warmer weather.

While last year saw the pretty in pink limited edition summer scent being snapped-up around the globe and 2005 saw Issey Miyake experiment with a spicy orange version, the new fragrance for 2007 comes in grown-up green. Decorated with a swirling leaf motif, the iconic bottle houses a subtly sweet scent which aims to capture summer’s days surrounded by fragrant flowers.

The central ingredient rosewater gives the scent its fresh longevity, while hints of freesia, neroli and blackcurrant bring fruity highnotes to the mixture. Lily of the valley and peonies add a feminine touch, while traces of tuberose, antique wood and parma violet petals give the scent a mature distinction.

Undoubtedly one of the prettiest scents we have sniffed for a long time, L’eau D’Issey Summer is light enough for sticky afternoons in the sun, but with a sophistication that can also lend itself to evening engagements. Now that the weather is finally brightening-up, it is sure to be this season’s spritz of choice.

L’ Eau d’Issey Limited Edition Summer Fragrance is available from Debenhams in Cheltenham and Gloucester, retailing at £34 for a 100ml bottle. L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Limited Edition Summer Fragrance is also available at £31 for a 125ml bottle.
