The Russian Ice Stars will be returning to the Everyman in a new production of Beauty and the Beast on Ice, which promises to be nothing short of spectacular – and if that isn’t enough to get you skating to the box office for tickets, the production stars the world’s tallest professional ice skater, Andrey Chuvilyaev.

The 6ft 7 skater is a former member of the Russian Olympic team, and will be playing the part of the cursed Prince in the frosty fairytale arriving in Cheltenham this May. Towering above the rest of the company, Cheltenham audiences will be able to see Andrey perform the world’s highest lifts with Beauty, played by Olga Pershankova.

The couple form part of the Russian Ice Stars – the original and arguably best troupe of professional theatrical ice skaters in the world who, with more than 300 competition medals between them, have been enthralling audiences across the globe for over 15 years.

Beauty and the Beast on Ice, which is touring the UK and will come to Cheltenham for a debut performance on Tuesday 20 May 2008, is choreographed by Cavaliere Giuseppe Arena – who staged the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and has the Italian equivalent of a knighthood bestowed on him for his services to dance.

With a decade of choreography under his belt as Artistic Director, organisers say Giuseppe has once again pulled out all the stops in this jaw-dropping spectacle of tragedy and romance that all the family will enjoy.
