Sing your heart out with our guide to karaoke in Gloucestershire.

Stop screeching in the shower and belting out b-sides into make-believe microphones and start singing-along in style. Whether you want to warble ‘I will survive’ or ‘I did it my way’ you’ll find a cracking place to perfect your cover versions in the county.

If you get struck by stage fright and it takes you a little time to get behind the microphone head to Gloucester’s New Inn and take part in their weekly celebration of all things karaoke. There’s always a friendly, supportive crowd on hand to give you rapturous applause and the fun doesn’t kick-off until 9.30pm with Robbie renditions and Elvis Presley performances being belted out until 1am – by which time you should be well and truly warmed-up.

Nervous performers who want to put their vocal chords to the test in front of an intimate audience should head to the White Bear in Tewkesbury. Drag a few friends along for moral support and even the shyest sopranos will soon be singing their lungs out in the secure surrounds of this friendly local. Their monthly karaoke nights always prove popular, phone ahead for details of their next night of inspired interpretations.

Every month The Mount Pleasant in Cinderford plays host to some local singing sensations – and some game for a laugh tone deaf vocalists too. With a full house every second Saturday of the month, it might not be a venue for shrinking violets, but if you haven’t been born with a voice like Charlotte Church you can be sure that picking a popular number will have the crowd singing along – and hitting some of the high notes even if you can’t.

For a sing-along near Stroud, music loving Berkeley Arms in Cam not only have a regular calendar of popular gigs, but they also give their punters the chance to sing to their heart’s content – thanks to an in-house karaoke machine which can be whipped out whenever anyone wants to make an impromptu request. So you can get tips from the professionals one night and take to the stage yourself the next.

And last but by no means least, a lively line-up of Cheltenham locals provides the top-notch turnout at Copa every Sunday evening from 8-11pm, where you are sure to find some impressively talented regulars hitting all the right notes. If you’re feeling confident take-up the tuneful challenge with a soulful or sassy song selection, but arrive early to stand any chance of getting more than one song in.
