Innovative quilt design group Quilt Art are bringing their avant-garde work to Gloucester City Museum and Art Gallery in April 2008.

Their exhibition, entitled QA 22 – Under Construction will be running until Saturday 31 May 2008, allowing visitors from across Gloucestershire to see a unique collection of artistic quilting methods.

From traditional to contemporary and from monochrome to full colour, the quilting techniques range from new approaches including photo-transfer and printing on cloth, to traditional hand dyeing and patchwork methods.

The group consisting of 20 professional quilt makers from Britain, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands and America, will display a wealth of pieces that aim to bring the art of the quilt to the fore.

Founded in 1985, the Gloucestershire dates from Quilt Art will be part of the group’s regular international touring exhibitions in Britain and Europe, with a tour of the United States planned after the show has left the county.
