With its undisturbed rolling hills, pretty villages and scheduled line-up of festive events, celebrating Christmas in the Cotswolds is expected to be a popular choice for visitors from across the UK this year. And for the most classically English Christmas imaginable, discerning couples will be heading to the Lower Slaughter Manor.

On Christmas Eve there will be the opportunity to join fellow guests and local carol singers in the lounge for a champagne and canapé reception, before enjoying what is set to be a fabulous four-course dinner in the award winning Garden Room Restaurant. Then, to celebrate the occasion in true style, guests will be invited to attend Midnight Communion in the pretty church at Upper Slaughter, returning to warming mince pies and a glass or two of mulled wine.

On Christmas Day, taking a stroll along the picturesque River Eye before lunch is set to prove a popular choice for guests, working up an appetite for the traditional Christmas lunch – before enjoying tea and cake during Her Majesty’s speech and then battling it out in the Lower Slaughter Manor’s Christmas Quiz.

Since Christmas is the perfect excuse for a spot of over indulgence, Boxing Day will begin with a full English breakfast before a walk around the neighbouring Slaughter villages – and the Lower Slaughter Manor’s staff will be on hand to arrange some traditional country pursuits for those feeling more energetic.

Last but not least, guests’ Christmas break will come to a close with a champagne and canapé reception followed by a five-course black tie gourmet dinner – before rounding off the evening trying their luck in the special casino until midnight.

Prices for Christmas at Lower Slaughter Manor are per room for the three-night break and are based on double occupancy, costing between £1,540 to £2,140. Call (01451) 820456 or visit lowerslaughter.co.uk for more information.
